 About Me

imageSharlene Alviar was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii and currently practices in Waimea (Kamuela). After graduating from Honoka'a High School, she moved to New York City. She thereby attended one of the most prestigious schools in the nation. The Swedish Institute School of Health Sciences offers students one of the most intense and comprehensive curriculums in both Western Physiology and Eastern Philosophy combined. Her training included internships at Bellevue Hospital, Lutheran Hospital and the P.H. Ling Clinic. Occupations in New York City consisted of upscale luxury properties such as The Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza, Trump International Hotel and Towers, The Regent Wall Street, Regency Hotel Park Avenue, and The New York Palace. 

Sharlene has since continued her studies at The Napa Valley School of Massage. Thereafter, her training includes studying with world-renowned Chongkol Setthakorn at the Institute of Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In Beijing, China, she interned with the Chinese Olympic Team Medical Doctors at the Sports Hospital of Nrism and continued her education at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She also studied with Angela Longo, founder of Waimea's Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii, which offers a Masters degree of Oriental Medicine.

Sharlene started her training as a Massage Therapist in 2000 and is a 12 year veteran of massage therapy. Along with her private practice in the up-country town of Waimea, she is also currently employed at The Spa Without Walls at The Fairmont Orchid, a beautiful property located on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii.
