Oriental Bodywork

Oriental bodywork aims to restore and balance the flow of energy (Chi) throughout your body. It uses gentle hand and finger pressure along specific points and energy pathways (meridians) on your body to restore your body to full health. There are many forms of Oriental bodywork, but they all share a common foundation in Chinese Medicine. They simply differ in their use of specific techniques to balance your energy.

Tuina

This Chinese Deep Tissue Therapy is best for relieving chronic soft tissue injuries.  Using repetitive compression techniques, Tuina Massage manipulates injured bones or tendons to promote recovery and rehabilitation of the disorder.  Focusing on freeing deep-seated muscle tension, Tuina aids in joint mobility and provides positive stimulation to assist in muscle relaxation. Very effective in conditions such as sciatica, rotator cuff injuries, cervical tension, knee injuries, lumbar strain, carpal tunnel, etc.

Thai Massage

"Yoga for Lazy People." Northern Style Thai Massage focuses primarily on a large variety of stretching movements with pressure along the Sen Energy Lines. Done on a floor mat with the client comfortably clothed, Thai massage is both relaxing and energizing. Used to increase circulation, promote flexibility and release muscle tension.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). Direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body has a soothing effect on Qi (energy) flow and helps to support and correct weak, overactive, dispersing or blocked pathways. Thumb pressure to specific reflex points that relate to the central and autonomic nervous system help reinforce and connect the body/mind function. Gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Acupressure

Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses key reflex points to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When pressure points are activated, they release muscular tension and help to promote and increase blood circulation and the circulation of Chi (energy) to aid in the healing process.

Acupuncture, Acupressure, Tuina and Shiatsu use the same energy channels (Meridians) and pressure points (359 standard acupoints in the body). These channels and points are activated by pressure to soothe, support, correct, disperse, and unblock stagnant Qi and Blood.

Chinese Foot Therapy

Chinese Foot Therapy has been around for about 2000 years.  This treatment utilizes procedures that Ancient Chinese Physicians used to treat and prevent disease as well as to preserve health.  Stimulation to specific locations of the foot manipulates the functions of the internal organs and assists in proper blood flow.  Release of pain and rejuvenation of Qi are major benefits to this treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.

Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for "massage", and it is part of a larger native Hawaiian tradition of healing and natural body care. According to tradition, all living beings are seeking a state of balance and love in the world. Relaxing of your body through gentle touch and reviving your spirit with the energy of love are fundamental aspects of this rhythmic and soothing body treatment.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
